Those that know me, know that I am a very keen golfer, and living in the Algarve is the perfect place to be !  I am also very passionate about treating Golf as a sport, and in doing so ensuring our bodies are in the best shape they can be when we walk onto the first tee.

 

These days Tour players will spend time in the gym, using that as an opportunity to work on their game. Yet we often walk out on to the course without preparing our body, expecting to move with ease and then wonder why we get aches and pains, or cant achieve the positions in our swing we want to.

By creating a strong and flexible base, enabling our body to move freely and with explosive power, this helps us to play better golf and to be able to play for years to come.

About Ann & Golf

I have been playing golf for 20 years (currently on a mission to get to 5.5 whilst I´m 55). Before I was a PT I noticed how I hit the ball further after I trained, and moving here the link between the 2 became more apparent.

My approach has evolved over the years, starting with Paul Chek´s approach, adding to this learnings from Yoga, then getting my TPI Level 1 and most recently taking my Dr Golf Certification which has really helped to solidify what I have experienced with research based training protocols.  

It is so much more than just creating rotation, lifting heavy or balancing on stability balls.  It is about ensuring the body functions on all levels. Mobility and flexibility is key that provides the base on which strength and power can be built.  We also need to look at how we fuel our body, to maintain energy to the last shot on 18th, and we need to work with the mind and the breath to maintain focus , which is based in a lot of yoga principles.  

This depth of approach enables me to work with golfers of any age and to create individual programs.

We all know how important it is to warm up before we play, but dont know what to do .

 

Here is a 7 minute warm up you can do at the range or before you go to play . This will help to ensure your body is ready to hit the first ball, reducing your risk of injury and increasing your chance of playing well and moving freely as you swing !

I’ve have been doing Ann’s golf fitness classes for a while now, and I can highly recommend, not only has my golf improved, lost 3 shots off my handicap since I started but my flexibility and strength have really improved, I’m hitting the ball far longer then I ever did!! Plus it’s always good fun whether I’m in class or on line!
